The sleep consultant at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has asked for you and your child to be booked into the nurse-led sleep clinic.
The appointments team at Sheffield Children’s will arrange your clinic appointment and this will be sent out in the post. The nurse-led sleep clinic happens every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning in the Sleep House at 20 Claremont Crescent, Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield, S10 2TA.
The first clinic appointment is planned to last up to 1 hour 10 minutes. During this appointment the specialist sleep nurse and specialist sleep practitioner will take a very detailed story of your child’s bedtime routine, sleep patterns and daytime activities.
After the first clinic appointment the specialist sleep nurse will make a follow up plan and the specialist sleep practitioner will offer a personalised sleep plan to follow. Your child will then be given up to 6 months support with regular follow up appointments by a specialist sleep practitioner. The specialist sleep nurse will also review progress at 3 months and 6 months. Please be aware that 2 missed follow up appointments result in a discharge from the nurse led sleep service.
Please bring the names of any medication that your child is taking. Any other information, such as a sleep diary can sometimes be useful. Please feel free to complete a 2 week sleep diary via the free sleep app ‘SNappD’ and email the information to the sleep nurses email at:
If you are unable to come in for the sleep clinic appointment that has been arranged for you, please ring the appointments line at Sheffield Children’s on 0114 271 7288 as soon as possible so that this clinic appointment can be offered to someone else as availability for the specialist clinic is very limited.
