Calf control exercises

You may be given these exercises to increase the strength and control through your calf muscles. Try to do these exercises 2 times per day.

Gastrocnemius muscle

Stand on 1 leg with your leg straight. Hold on to a wall or flat surface to help you balance.

Lift up onto your tip toes, as high as you are able.

Slowly lower back down. Repeat as many times as you can. Stop if your muscles are tired or if you feel like you can no longer control the movement well.

Standing on one leg, using a chair to support you. raising yourself up on your toes and down again.

Soleus muscle

Stand on 1 leg with your knee bent. Hold on to a wall or flat surface to help you balance.

Lift your heel so you are stood on your tip toes, as high as you are able. Keep your knee still and bent throughout the movement.

Slowly lower back down.

Repeat as many times as you can. Stop if you muscles are tired or if you feel like you can no longer control the movement well.

Standing on one leg, knee slightly bent, raising up and lowering down.
