Physiotherapy advanced wellness and research centre

Your physiotherapy appointment is at the Sheffield Hallam University advanced wellness and research centre (AWRC) rather than at the Hospital.

What will happen at my appointment?

When you arrive at the AWRC, please tell the reception that you are here, and tell them that you are attending an appointment with the Sheffield Children’s hospital physiotherapy team. Please give them your therapist’s name and the time of your appointment.

You will:

  • be asked to sanitise your hands
  • be directed to the waiting room until your therapist collects you for your appointment

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment.  There is a carpark outside the centre for you to use.

Your child may get asked to get undressed for their examination, so please make sure they are are wearing shorts and a vest top underneath their clothing in preparation.

Is there anything we need to bring?

Please bring with you information about your child’s other medical history, any medication your child may be taking, and any other professionals your child may see.

What if I want my appointment at the Sheffield Children’s hospital?

If you are unable to attend AWRC and would prefer an appointment at Sheffield Children’s hospital, please contact us on 0114 271 7227 to rearrange your appointment.

What if I am unable to attend my appointment?

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please call us on the above number where we will be able to rearrange it for you. You must also leave a message at AWRC on 0114 225 3399 where a message will be left for your therapist. Please also contact AWRC reception if you are running late or are unable to find the building.
