This resource is for children and young people who want to get better at brushing their teeth.
This resource is ideal to print out and stick up in the bathroom.
Brush each section for 10 seconds, using a timer can be helpful. You should brush for 2 minutes in total.
For children who struggle with moving the toothbrush or applying the right amount of pressure, it can be helpful to try hand over hand (the grown-up places their hand lightly over the child’s and gently guides the movement until the child can take over independently).
Here is a printable download wallchart to support toothbrushing.
Autism Toothcare has advice and information about dental care for children with a range of SEND, but particularly autistic children. You will find tips on when to brush, creating a routine, being a “sensory detective” (getting ready to brush) and how to make brushing fun.
