Narcolepsy medication changes

At Sheffield Children’s we are changing the way that children with narcolepsy get their medications. We will be posting the medication to you, instead of you collecting it from your local pharmacy.

The new way I will receive my medications

  • Your hospital doctor writes a prescription for your child’s narcolepsy medication every month as normal. The prescription will then be passed to our Rowland’s Pharmacy within Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
  • Rowlands Pharmacy will then post your medications by Royal Mail to an address that you provide.

What will I need to do differently?

  • You will need to confirm the address you need your medications posted to. Rowlands Pharmacy will check this each time your medications are due to be posted. This helps avoid any missed deliveries.
  • An adult will need to be available to sign for your medications at the address you confirmed with Rowlands Pharmacy.

What happens if I do not receive my medications as planned?

  • Contact Rowlands Pharmacy to check that the medications have been sent on 0114 278 8488 and they will confirm the planned delivery date with you.
  • If it looks like your medications are lost in the post, first contact Rowlands Pharmacy to check if there is a delay, if there has been no delay and your medication was lost in the post, you should contact your hospital doctor’s secretary to request another repeat prescription.
  • If the medication packaging has been damaged in the post (for example, a broken bottle) contact your hospital doctor’s secretary to request another repeat prescription.
