What is Phonology Clinic?
What is the Phonology Clinic?
The phonology clinic is for children over 4 years 3 months of age who are having difficulties with speech sounds. Children on this pathway are seen in clinic, so you will need to take your child out of school for these appointments.
When and where will my child be seen?
When your child reaches the top of the waiting list, we will send a letter asking you to get in touch.
We can offer appointments at various locations across the city. We will ask you for your preferences, but the more flexible you can be with time or location, the easier it will be to find an appointment.
What will happen at my child’s appointment?
You will be offered up to five 30-minute appointments.
The Speech and Language Therapist will talk to you about how to help your child’s speech at home. You will be shown activities to practise between appointments.
If you are unable to attend an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
What will happen next?
After the phonology clinic sessions have finished, the Speech and Language Therapist will discuss appropriate next steps with you. You will be given information about how to come back to Speech and Language Therapy if more help is needed in the future.
