The class is a 45 minute exercise class which includes a warm up, specific exercises for your back, and a cool down.
There will be 2 physiotherapists leading the class. At the start and the end of your rehabilitation you may be reassessed by a physiotherapist to monitor your progress. This will happen alongside the class so you should not require any extra sessions.
Please wear suitable clothes and footwear for exercising in and a drink of water.
You will be asked to attend 1 session once per week, for a total of 8 sessions.
There will be around 10 to 12 children of all ages with similar pain with you, as well as 2 physiotherapists.
You do not need to have a parent or carer stay with you throughout the class. If they want to stay, there is a waiting area for them. There is limited space within the class setting.
It is important that you call the physiotherapy department on 0114 271 7227 to let us know if you cannot attend.
If you miss multiple classes without letting us know we will contact your therapist and you may be discharged.
If you have any change in your symptoms such as more back pain, new numbness or pins and needles, please let your physiotherapist know.
The classes are at the Advanced Wellness Research Centre (AWRC). The entrance is off Leeds Road. Go through the main entrance of the Sheffield Hallam Building and check in at reception.
There is a free car park, park within the bays signed for NHS patients.
The building can be accessible by public transport. Select Travel South Yorkshire for route planning help.
