Buying larger nappies for children

Generally children’s nappies and pull ups are available in weight measurements. For children and adult products the fit will be either by a waist or hip measurements. Some suppliers may send out samples first to try. It is worth shopping around as different suppliers seem to have different offers. If you find a brand you like also try shopping directly with that brand.

Products usually have a wetness indicator up the front that shows when it needs changing. Use this a guide for when to change. All products have really good stay dry layers.

Should we use nappies or pull ups?

Consider who will be changing and how.

Schools do not like pull ups as bottom layers of clothing need to be removed to replace and this is timing consuming.

Pull ups are generally not as absorbent and are usually more costly. A nappy will feel the same to your child and does the same job. Most can be removed for toileting and replaced if they are not very wet.

There are also washable pants that could have a small insert pad that are beneficial for toilet training and convenient changing.
