Wrist tendon repair – extending

Your child has injured one or more of the tendons that extend their wrist. This has been surgically repaired and will need to be protected while it heals.

Wearing a splint

Your child should wear the splint we have given you today at all times (night and day) for the first 4 weeks.

They should only use their hand for light movement with no heavy lifting or tight gripping.

Your child may remove the splint to wash their hand and to complete the exercises.

Information:

Your child should complete these exercises 4 times a day and will need your supervision to make sure they are done safely and correctly.

Exercise 1

  1. Take the top strap off and bend your wrist backwards as far as is comfortable.
  2. Hold for 2 seconds.
  3. Bring your wrist back to straight again.
  4. Repeat 10 times.
