This resource is for children who are attending the energy management service for chronic fatigue syndrome.
We will send an email to you to check we have your details correct, so please reply to this email. Once you have replied, we can send you links for the introduction to pacing workshop.
Take time to watch the workshop videos. You may need to have breaks or watch the sections on different days. A member of our team will contact you to make sure you have managed to watch the workshop videos.
Your therapist will also arrange for a post-workshop review in 4 to 6 weeks time.
In your resource pack, there will be an evaluation form.
Please fill out this form after you have watched the workshop so that you can talk about it at your post-workshop review.
Please post them to us using the enclosed prepaid envelope.
There are 2 activity diaries to fill out in the ‘activity and pacing’ handout in your resource pack. Fill out one of them before you make any changes.
Now it is time to make some changes following the advice from the workshop and the ‘activity and pacing‘ handout in your resource pack. Continue with these changes for about 1 month.
Please give the ‘information for teachers’ resource to your teachers at school so they can support you as well.
Fill out the other diary entry so we can see if there any differences.
Your therapist will have arranged a post-workshop review date with you.
This is a chance to discuss the ‘introduction to pacing’ workshop and any changes you have been able to make. The therapist will help you decide the next steps on offer in the treatment programme.
You will be offered a series of appointments with one of the therapists from the team. These may be face to face, video or telephone depending on what you prefer.
Please note that there is a considerable demand for this service and unfortunately a lot of time is lost due to cancelled or missed appointments.
If you cancel or fail to attend more than 2 appointments, the therapy team may discharge you from the service.
If this happens, you can speak to your GP or paediatrician in the future if you would like to be re-referred to the service.
