It is recommended you complete modules 1-5 of the ‘Mind Your Words’ RCSLT e-learning course before watching the 4 core SEMH training modules below.

Module 5 – Universal Strategies for SLCN.

A certificate will be issued on completion of modules 1-5.

Module 1: The role of language skills in emotional regulation

Time: 40 minutes

This training module explains the link between language, communication and emotional regulation. Please note, all video clips used in this training module play twice.

Module 2: Compromised attachment, trauma and the effect on communication skills

Time: 46 minutes

This training module covers the impact of compromised attachment and developmental trauma on communication. Please note, all video clips used in this training module play twice.

Module 3: Supporting a child and young person’s emotional availability through visual support

Time: 47 minutes

This training module covers how to use visual support to make things predictable for children and young people. Please note, all video clips used in this training module play twice.

Module 4: Social communication, demand avoidance and communication

Time: 46 minutes

This training module covers social communication and demand avoidance.
