Scar management conformer

Conformers

Conformers are effective in the management of scar tissue, with some scars becoming softer, flatter and paler following use. The conformer is moulded to fit the scared area exactly. Effects are often not immediate, however with regular use benefits are usually noted after several weeks.

Instructions for use

The conformer will be moulded by the therapist to fit over the scared area.

Secure the conformer with mefix tape, a pressure garment, a splint, or in another way, as directed by your therapist.

It should be worn for a total of 23.5 hours. Build up tolerance by wearing the conformer for 2 to 4 hours the first day and increase the time worn by a further 2 hours per day until constant use is possible.

If a reaction occurs stop using the conformer and allow the irritation to settle. Contact your occupational therapist for further instructions.

Wash the conformer gently with mild soapy water and pat dry twice daily.

Each piece will last for 2 to 3 months.

If you lose or damage your conformer or have any concerns, please contact your occupational therapist.
