Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) support

CIRCRA lead research into better treatments, support children and families with information. They also work with healthcare professionals to improve care and give children a voice to increase public understanding of Crohn’s and colitis.

Crohn’s and Colitis UK help break taboos, drive research and bring people together. They campaign to improve lives and are leading the fight against Crohn’s and colitis.

Mental health support

Child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) support with:

  • managing feelings such as low mood (depression) and anxiety
  • manage behaviours such as eating disorders and self-harm
  • cope with the impact of difficult things in your life such as losing a loved one or bullying
  • managing experiences you may have such as seeing or hearing things that are not real

Shout is the UK’s first and only free, confidential 24 hour 7 days a week text messaging service for anyone who is struggling to cope.

The Mix is the UK’s leading digital charity for under 25s, reaching over 6 million young people each year. Whatever issue a young person is facing, The Mix is always there for them. Their support is free, confidential and anonymous and can be accessed wherever young people are.

The Kooth team provide free, safe and anonymous online support and counselling. The whole team are made up of friendly and experience individuals who want to help you.

Young Minds is full of advice and information to give young people the tools to look after their mental health. They empower parents, carers and professionals to be the best support they can be to the young people in their lives. They give young people the space and confidence to have voices heard and change the world we live in.

The Anna Freud Centre is a world-leading mental health charity for children and families. They have developed and delivered pioneering mental health care for over 70 years.

Sheffield based support

If you do not live in Sheffield, please liaise with your school or your GP for information about local support.

The Lucy Project offers self-referrals psychological interventions to support young people under 18 who are experiencing difficulties with low mood or anxiety in relation to their physical health with under the care of Sheffield Children’s. Lucy Project helps young people with mild to moderate psychological difficulties which are related to their physical health condition such as anxiety, low mood or difficulties accessing health procedures.

The Golddigger Trust is an award-winning charity helping to give young people confidence and skills to make positive choices for themselves. They build positive wellbeing in young people based in Sheffield, and invest in projects and programmes across the UK. Golddigger Trust is committed to ‘digging out the gold’ within people and helping them to reach their full potential.
