Your child has had a hearing test today which did not show conclusive results. This means that it is very important that we see them again in future for more testing. The clinician you have seen will discuss with you when your child’s next hearing test is due. How soon this needs to be will be different for each child.
We may have obtained very little information about your child’s hearing and need to bring your child back very soon to check their hearing again.
We may have obtained enough information to rule out a significant hearing loss. This means that we do not have major concerns about your child’s hearing but we can’t confirm that it is completely normal.
If, before your next appointment, you become concerned your child’s hearing has deteriorated or they are not responding as well as previously please contact us and we can arrange to see them sooner than planned.
Signs to look out for which can indicate poor hearing include:
If you have concerns about any of these, or feel that there has been a deterioration in your child’s hearing please contact us and we will discuss if we need to bring your next appointment forward.
A letter summarising today’s test results will be sent to your family doctor, health visitor, and to any other health professional involved with your child. If you have not received a copy of the hearing test results and would like one, please request one.
If you have any questions about today’s test results, or about this leaflet, telephone 0114 271 7450 and ask to speak to an Audiologist.
