How to contact the Epilepsy nurses

Who are the epilepsy nurses?

The epilepsy nurses are based at Ryegate Children’s Centre. They provide information and advice to children and young people and families living with epilepsy and under the care of the Paediatric Neurologists, as well as other Consultants, at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

How can the epilepsy nurses help?

A diagnosis of epilepsy can be difficult to process for children and young people and their families. The nursing team can provide written information about epilepsy for you.

The nursing team run specialist clinics, and offer telephone and virtual appointments, as well as the opportunity to meet face to face at Ryegate Children’s Centre. They have an epilepsy surgery co-ordinator who supports patients through the epilepsy surgery programme, and the team provide post-surgery support and follow up clinics including vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) checks.

The nurses also provide epilepsy and rescue medication training for nurseries and schools, and other organisations. They also run clinics to support teenagers living with epilepsy and other complex conditions through their transition into adult services.
