Front door wellbeing

What is the front door group?

The front door group is a pilot psychoeducational group for young people at the start of their CAMHS journey.

You and your family will be introduced to new ways of thinking about your emotions and distress. We will introduce some key tools for managing emotional wellbeing.

It is 6 weekly sessions in a group setting. Your parents or carers will attend the first and last session.

You will be given a booklet which will have exercises included, encouraging you to practise what you have learned. Your parents or carers will also be given a booklet to help their understanding too.

Topics include:

  • introduction to emotional literacy
  • mindfulness
  • window of tolerance
  • managing difficult emotions
  • communication skills

When are the sessions?

They are 4pm till 5.30pm every Wednesday for 6 weeks.

Why do we do this?

A lot of people do not fully understand the essential things we can do to maintain our wellbeing.

This has led us to create this group where this information can be delivered in a supportive space.

This will serve as foundational knowledge for everyone coming through to CAMHS. For those that cannot access the group, you may be able to have 1 to 1 sessions.

The aim is to focus on the strengths of young people and provide you and your families with tools and coping skills.

Will I be considered for the sessions?

You will be considered for group sessions if you:

  • are in the service and have attended less than 6 sessions
  • have an allocated case holder

You will not be considered for group sessions if you:

  • are experiencing acute psychosis
  • struggle to access the group based on your communication needs
  • are on the waiting list for a specific pathway
